Landlord Training on Nuisance Abatement and Evictions

At the August 27, Landlord Training, on Nuisance Abatement and Evictions, at the O’Fallon Park YMCA, we heard about management practices for avoiding nuisance and evictions.  Nuisance is a continued act or physical condition which is detrimental to the safety, welfare, or convenience of the inhabitants of the city (see Nuisance Ordinance #68535).  St. Louis city counselor, Susan Phelps, outlined the role of the City's Problem Property team for abating nuisance.  Rachel Greathouse, of Brightside, described ways to deal with trash left behind after a move-out. Attorney Julie Ostrom, who specializes in real estate matters, explained the different types of evictions and what to expect during the eviction process.

We had lively discussion, as the audience had plenty of questions about their rental business experiences. Our next training will be on September 24 on Energy Efficiency for Rental Property.
