Ground Breaking of New Affordable Homes in Tower Grove South and Southwest Garden Neighborhoods

Event Date: July 30, 2015 6PM at 3279 and 3283 Alfred Ave. then 7PM at 5921 Southwest Ave.Saint Louis, Missouri (July 21, 2015) - Tower Grove Neighborhoods Community Development Corporation (TGNCDC) and Rubicon Corporation have joined together to develop three new affordable homes in Tower Grove South and Southwest Garden neighborhoods. The ground breaking ceremony will happen on July 30, 2015 at 6PM at 3279 and 3283 Alfred Ave then another ceremony will occur at 7PM at 5921 Southwest. In partnership with Saint Louis Community Development Administration, Saint Louis Development Corporation and Saint Louis Land Reutilization Authority, two new homes will be constructed at 3279-83 Alfred Avenue. Based on parcel records, the property has been vacant since 1997. The homes will be bungalow style (similar to others on the street and approved by St. Louis City Cultural Resources Dept) and will have three bedrooms and 2 baths. Also, in partnership with Saint Louis Community Development Administration, Saint Louis Development Corporation, 5921 Southwest Avenue will be renovated into a three bedroom and two bath home. The building has been vacant for over 7 years and was danger of being lost. As an intact City block, TGNCDC was motivated to save the building and preserve the integrity of the street. “We’re excited about the opportunity to redevelop a large Land Reutilization Authority (LRA) parcel and to rehabilitate an existing building on a desirable street to complete three new homes in St. Louis’ most diverse neighborhoods.
