Tower Grove CDC Meeting Introduces the Neighborhood Ownership Model to Activate Residents and Promote Safety
Last night the first Tower Grove Neighborhoods Community Development Corporation meeting was held at 4168 Juniata. 53 residents from Tower Grove South, Shaw and Southwest Garden were in attendance to learn more about the Neighborhood Ownership Model and how they could get involved. Sgt. Johnson, from the SLPD introduced the Neighborhood Ownership Model and provided information about how residents can become involved to build strong, safe neighborhoods. Programs such as Citizen Patrol Units, Victims Support and Court Advocacy were presented as pro-active, resident driven tools proven to create safer neighborhoods. A request for resident volunteers to lead these programs was issued.

TGNCDC asked attendees to complete a survey at the meeting. This survey will provide information from residents as to what safety initiatives they would like to see in their neighborhoods and problems they would like addressed. Using the information gathered from the surveys along with neighborhood crime statistics, TGNCDC will perform a Neighborhood Safety Assessment which will be used to create a Neighborhood Ownership Plan. The Neighborhood Safety Assessment and the Neighborhood Ownership Plan will be presented at the next TGNCDC meeting on February 26th, 2013 at 6:30pm.
